My husband and I were gone for the weekend and the boys forgot to close the henhouse at night. I lost a hen, a rooster, and a guinea. Now the birds want to roost on the front porch (where they were hatched in a "hidden" nest). What do I need to change to get them to go back to the henhouse which is actually safer?

sorry for the circumstances. You will have to lock them in the coop/run until they overcome their fear. This may take a matter of weeks. Do not be surprised if they stop laying for a while. Eliminating the predator will also help.

I haven't a clue what is after the birds. We live by a creek, so it could be anything! I hate to coop them up, but better that than coyote supper. Thx
