I started 3 days ago with the intent of dosing my girls with a 5 day regiment of the goat dewormer- Safe Guard. This morning I discovered two dead roundworms in one of there poops.
I know from all my reading on here that I can do a 5 day straight treatment or if treating for just roundworm dose day 1 then in 10 days a second dosing.

My question is knowing that one or more of them have roundworms is the 5 day treatment going to be good enough?

That is as good as it gets with Safeguard. The 5 days in a row dose works on all the worms except tapeworms. Tapeworms will require a different type of medicine. It usually takes me a few days to see roundworms in the poop, if they don't get digested. Sometimes I don't see them, but most of the times I do.

The 5 days in a row dose requires an egg withdrawal period as does the dose on day 1 and wait 10 days to dose again. So really the 5 days in a row dose will get you back to eating eggs quicker but uses more medicine. You'll just have to pick what you want to do.

There is another low dose mash for 5 days in a row that kills roundworms only that requires no egg withdrawal but I'm afraid they will build resistance quicker so I avoid that one.

Where you live matters alot. People in the north may not have as many problems as people in the south. Now that you know you have roundworms, they always seem to rear their ugly heads at some point.
