Hi all,
I have a system now that consists of a 5-gallon bucket, a hose spigot, a length of garden hose, some PVC pipe, and poultry nipples. There is a screw-on cap on the bucket, and a metal bulkhead that connects the spigot to the bucket. I have noticed that the bulkhead is rusting (was supposed to be rustproof), and the the PVC pipes don't have a good drain outlet, so I want to rebuild the whole thing.
What pipe materials are rustproof and safe for watering chickens? Should I be using metal pipes instead of PVC, or should I go all-plastic? I found that even when I sealed the screw-on drains to end of the pipe to serve as a flush point, the threaded ends would leak, so I had to just seal the ends shut.
Thanks for the help!
