First, are the fire ants killing my plants? My whole snow pea and snap pea crop is now dead.

Second, how can I kill them without hurting my vegetable plants? I tried Captain Jack's Dead Bug Brew to no avail. Is it possible that THAT's what killed my snow peas?

Mix half baking soda and half powered sugar - sprinkle on the area or their hill if you know where it's at. They can't tell the difference between the two and when they eat the baking soda, it will dry them out from the inside, killing them. It has to be done on dry days so the mix doesn't get wet but it works really well! I keep a mason jar of the mixture in the shed and sprinkle as needed.
