safe nontoxic dyes

Does anyone know the brand/name of colored dyes safe to use on newborn chicks? OR the process used to dye them? Both? Thanks.

If you search stuff like Dyed easter chicks on the board I bet you'll find some stuff about easter chicks and how they are dyed. If done post hatch, I believe the chicks are literally dunked into colored solutions. If done in ovo, it's via injection into the albumen. Most find the process cruel and the end means of most easter chicks not so good.

But if you'd like to dye chicks for yourself, Food coloring in a spray bottle should be able to do it just fine. Just watch out for the eyes.
