After loosing some chickens recently, I have only been letting the rest of the flock out about 3 hours a day when I can be around the yard ready to take out any preditors that shows its head. They are getting smarter and much more wary which is good. I cleared the brush from the area to the right of my coop as you can see in the photo. I'm thinking I may use 2x4 6' welded wire fence. Possibly add bird netting supported by a pole in the middle and possibly add electric fence around the top the discourage climbing preditors. I'll use hog rings to connect an apron on the buttom to prevent digging.

Is this a viable plan? Can a welded wire fence be used as the ground for an electric fence? Seems like it should and prevent climbing over the top.
