Hi everyone, we're doing our first hatch in an old round metal incubator from Sears. We are going into day 2 and I'm wondering what is normal and not concerning as far as temperature swings go. It is staying mostly around 101.8 but was down to 100.5 this morning (not for very long though). The highest it has gone so far is 102. So 1. is this okay for the eggs? and 2. does this indicate that the wafer or microswitch may be dying? (I have a replacement wafer on hand but we had a hard time with installation because it is a slightly different design).
Thanks for any help!

Yes, that's safe. Typical still air temps should be 101-102 (taken near the TOP of the eggs.) If you are getting readings of 102 near the bottoms of the eggs then it's going to be a bit high. 101.8 is VERY good. I know NOTHING about mechanics, so I can't help there...lol

Okay, thanks! Hopefully someone on here can share some experience with the Brower-style temperature norms re: fluctuation.
