But, it’s only been 4 weeks since my chickens had their second dose of Zalbazen. Is that going to be too many dewarmers too close together for the chickens? The ducks have never been dewormed in their lifetime and most of them are seven years old, but a few are only four months old. The reason I want to treat them with safeguard Aquasol is because first I found out my dog had Giardia, so I treated her and treated my two geese since the dog runs around in geese territory. The dog occasionally visits DuckLand , and I walk back-and-forth and all over so anything on the ground would’ve been spread around by my shoes too. Some of my ducks are showing signs of what may be Could be possibly Giardia symptoms, such as tiredness and stools that are looser than normal, watery and white. But their stools don’t smell any worse than normal and I think that’s a Giardia symptom so maybe they don’t have giardia . Anyway, my question is should I try to fence in a separate area for my chickens while I treat my ducks with safeguard Aquasol ? OR but wouldn’t they need to be treated for Giardia as well since they share duck land?
Perhaps I could collect some duck poop and send it to a lab does anyone have a link to the information on how to do that like where to send it ? my vet will not do it. None of the vets in my area will do it most of them don’t even see poultry, or water fowl. And the ones that do require a visit.

Have you asked your regular vet if you could just bring in a sample of droppings, and treat it like one of your dogs or cats, to do a fecal float? Do any of your animals need a check up or yearly shots? My vet would do that for me. I would get a diagnosis before treating for giardia. Metronidazole is used to treat giardia. SafeGuard Aquasol is about $300, and would not treat for giardia anyway. It would treat roundworms, but not the worse worms in the dosage recommended. SafeGuard Liquid Goat Wormer is more like $30, and would treat most chicken worms similar to Valbazen.

we already have all three of the dewormers ( safeguard goat liquid, valbazen, and a small bottle of the aquasol from an eBay seller who buys the big jugs and divided them up into tiny containers . ) my vet is imo evil money hungry negligent vet so I’m switching to a new one who sees poultry too. I can ask again but they want a visit for 100plus

If giardia is a problem in your water, then you can get metronidazole. (Aqua Zole sold online.) That sounds like Aquasol which is a wormer, but Aqua Zole or Fish Zole is the generic anti-Protozoa drug metronidazole. Dosage for poultry is 50 mg per pound given orally daily for 5 days. Have you had your water tested? I would do some research about giAdria and how to prevent reinfection.

I actually already have that too. I kinda went on a shopping spree last month trying to stock up on anything I might need.
I have also already researched giardia and dealt with possible causes however since my birds are not cooped up in a run all day there will always be some wild bird interaction . However Im dumping and cleaning all water sources (pools and buckets) every day.
So basically now All I need to know is where to send a fecal sample for testing... because my vets around here wont help me. They all say, "oh no, we would have to see the patient for a visit which is over 100$ to walk through the door and ends up more like $275 when done.
I just dropped $600 on my dog at one vet who wouldnt even give me my dogs prescriptions to get them filled online until I threatened them. (they wanted another $160 to fill in house but I got for $30 online)
I wish I had a microscope and some training to do the tests myself

It's already been mentioned but I was going to say that the two dewormers you mention will not treat giardia.

Make sure you keep all water the dog has access to cleaned regularly.
Fenbendazole ( safeguard/panacur) is still prescribed by veterinarians along with metronidazole . I know because my vet just prescribed both things a few weeks ago. That was the vet that gave me trouble they wanted to fill in house, and I wanted the written prescriptions to order online.

Also thank you that’s a great link and it shows that some dogs don’t even have symptoms like my dog hasn’t had any diarrhea, so how would I even know if she had anything? There was another link I read that says some thing like 7% of all dogs in the USA have Giardia.
