Safeguard Liquid for Worming

If you don't know what kind of parasite there may be then it's best to do Safeguard 5 days in a row. If you instead get Valbazen, then you can do two doses 10 days apart to get most parasites. Valbazen dose is .5 ml for a standard sized bird. (actual math is birds weight in lbs / 2.2 x 20mg / 113.6)
Most of the time you will not see worms in the droppings. Sometimes if there are tape worms you will see segments, or if they have a heavy load of roundworm they might pass one, but most of the time the worms live their entire lives inside the bird. The eggs from the worms pass in the droppings and the eggs are microscopic, not visible with the naked eye. If you can get a fecal float test done, that looks for the eggs.

So if I’m using safeguard give 1 mm per chicken for five days in a row and then you don’t have to repeat it that seems like a lot of wormer a little confusing because everybody gives you a different answer

I will attach documents below for reference. Correct dose of Safeguard is .23 ml per pound of bird weight (the math as been done for the concentration in the medication).
Treating roundworm or cecal worm you would do 2 doses 10 days apart.
Treating capillary worm or gape worm you would do a dose 5 days in a row, no repeat after that.
So to treat for everything except tape worm (since you don't know what you might be treating) I would do the 5 days in a row, to make sure you are completely covered.
That will take care of everything except tape worm, for tape worm treatment is praziquantel, which you can get in Zimectrin Gold or Equimax horse paste (Equimax is generally more economical).
