I am planning on electic netting to protect against land predators.

Would having a platform (say 8 feet by 8 feet) about 12 inches off the ground help? Presumably they could hide under there. I would think the chickens can run faster than a hawk. Thoughts?

Any other ideas? I wasnt going to put netting over the run.

No lid= no protection. If a hawk comes in they will scatter and the hawk will follow.
There is a thread somewhere in the predator section showing a hawk maneuvering through some very small spaces. Even mesh netting is better than nothing.
I personally went with chicken wire on top and chain link on the sides. (I happened to have the chain link laying around)
