I candles about half of the eggs last night and it looks like we have developement. I also added 2 eggs from my own flock. I don't know if they have been fertilized or not. They have just started to lay and last month the roos started crowing and fighting each other, so we will see. If they are, it will be the first one from my own flock. I can't wait until I don't have to order eggs anymore to hatch!!!

Thanks for the good vibes guys! I have a confession on my obsession.......

I woke up to one little chick hatched and no other pips that I could see. This time I laid the eggs on thier sides for lockdown instead of using cartons. We will see if I get better results. I'm just glad that I had one hatch on day 21. I must have done something right. I got discouraged last chicken hatch when I had about $80 invested in maran eggs and NONE hatched. I hope my little one is not the only one to hatch. I will get him a buddy from the feed store if I have to so he isn't lonely.

Wow, this thread kind of dried up!

Mine are doing better than I thought, considering some of them were 10 days old (result of my buyer being a no-show) and it being february, with lots of temperature fluctuations. Temp got to 103 for a few hrs there one day, but out of 21 eggs I set, I had 19 fertile and 2 of those quitters. So my remaining is 17 of 21 still developing and looking good on day 10. So then I'll have MORE D'UCCLES if all goes well
