I raised 18 saipan and they give a nice body shape for eating. I think 6 lbs live weight at around 16 weeks, and good breast meat. I only ate 3 so far (showed aggressiveness toward other birds or my 4 yr old), but so far the rest still eat from my hand and are much friendlier than my other birds even though we didn't handle them as chicks. Time will tell how many roosters turn aggressive though, they are only 5 months old. I think at this point i wouldnt recommend any large roosters around toddlers, since even 2 of my lavender orps turned super aggressive (hurting even me) once their hormones hit. I have raised hundreds of roosters and many breeds including bantams which often also can become aggressive, but luckily their smaller size makes them less dangerous. If i didnt have kids, i might think"my roosters havent attacked and are super sweet" but then they attack my toddler (have had 3 toddlers over the years). Similar to people that think they have a docile dog until it rips open the leg of the neighbors kid that comes to close to the food dish.
