Well, our favorite Celtic band, Crossbow, is NOT playing at the Sparta Celtic Festival tomorrow, after all. They had been on the lineup. Their FB page said they are lightening their schedule this year, as two of the members, Dr. Adam and Claire McMillan now have 3 kids (oldest is 5?), so they are rather busy. And yeah, he's an MD with a practice, so he's got other big commitments too.

Actually, they all have jobs. This is their "fun" gig. They are all VERY talented musicians. I will miss hearing them. I'm glad we got to hear them at the Holland Celtic Fest, as that will be it for the season.

Sparta was really fun. We saw another of our favorite bands, Ironwood.

And our friend sold "a lot of stuff!" (her words). She said she made her booth fee in the first hour she was there.

I have 3 quart jars of tomatoes that didn't seal, for whatever reason. I'm going to use them for this week's spaghetti sauce and to make lentil soup.

Except I don't have any lentils. So I'm using small red beans instead, and cooking it for 26 minutes, instead of 8. We'll see...

26 minutes was not long enough. I added 2 cups of water and set the Instant Pot for another 12 minutes.

Should have soaked the beans, dang it! I read recipes that said No Soaking Required, and added a couple extra minutes to the longest time I read.

Gonna be up late.

I use(d) a pressure cooker for cooking unsoaked beans, worked great!

I'm Ole skool,
I always soak beans overnight. I'm also never in a hurry with beans. If I need them like NOW,,, then it is a can.
I have been experimenting making refried beans. The ones from a can are OK, but not as delish compared to mine. I cook mine with an assortment of seasonings.
I also like making my own chili with different assortment of beans. Of course these get soaked overnight.
This was my last chili That I made.

We went to Menards yesterday for more stuff for the bathroom remodel. We got the shower walls and basin, the sink, the faucet for the sink, drywall, drywall mud and tape. $3030. The shower was the biggest part, over $2600. We still need to get tile for the walls around the sink, and the shower door, which will be expensive.


We will like the bathroom when it's done. And I won't be embarrassed by it anymore.

I've mentioned that they guy who built the house was... less than the best builder. The ceiling of the first floor is the floor of the upper floor. No dead space between. The ceiling/floor is tongue-and-groove pine. He stained the ceiling a light amber color to match the walls. Ok, it looks nice. And the boards are substantial, so it's not sagging/warping.

He didn't put a vent fan in the bathroom, the most damp room in the house. The ceiling is covered with mildew. Which you can wipe off the walls, because they're sealed with poly. But not the ceiling.

So we are putting in a drop ceiling of drywall, primed and painted and sealed. And a vent fan. With a light over the shower.

I did have other plans for yesterday, but it was a good day to bring home drywall on the trailer. The roads were dry, and they won't be later on today.
