Sally's GF3 thread

I posted this in the garden thread, but wanted to include it here.

Sally's Rhubarb Jam

12 cups rhubarb, cut into small pieces
2 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
3/8 teaspoon cloves
3/8 cup lemon juice

Mix the rhubarb and sugar in a bowl, and let it sit in the refrigerator overnight to macerate.
Transfer the rhubarb/sugar mix to a stainless steel pan. Stir in the cinnamon, cloves, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil, boil for 20 minutes, then simmering until it's jam consistency. Stir often to keep it from scorching.
Pour into prepared pint or half pint jars. Process in a water bath, 10 minutes for half pints, 15 minutes for pints.
Makes about 4 pints; 7-8 half pints.

Note: this recipe has a LOT less sugar than most of the ones I've found. If you think it's too sour, you can add more.
Thank you for this!

We're in a level 3 out of 5 for risk of severe weather. Most likely is high winds (50-70+mph), large hail (1-2" diameter), and possible tornadoes. The line of storms will move through quickly, so risk of flooding is low.

Right now, it's sunny, humid, and just a light breeze. The action starts around sunset, which is 9 pm.

Those storms passed our area about 7PM Central Time. Neighbors tree lost a huge branch.. No damage to home thankfully.
3 miles from my location, they got 1 inch hail. (as per news weather)
The rain and wind came quickly, ,,,,, dropped a lot of water, and cleared out just as quickly. No flooding amounts though.
I was waiting for some rain for a few days already. I reseeded portions of my grassy area.

Glad you're ok, Cavey!

NO hail here, yay! And no wind damage, that I've seen so far. I didn't hear any crashing, so nothing big came down near the house or out in the woods. Not so much as a blink in the power.

We probably got an inch of rain in about an hour. There will be some erosion in the driveway, but if that's all that happened, we are Lady Luck's own tot.

We went out to hear a Celtic band we like play at a restaurant we like. So did 100+ other people. We decided to go to another restaurant we like. So did 150+ people. So we came home.

The food here is good, though the menu is scant. The service is quick and friendly. We had great seats to watch the game. No crowd noise, so we could actually hear the TV.

Five Stars! Would recommend!
