Sally's GF3 thread

Our dryer conked out a couple weeks ago. Hubby went to U-tube U(niversity) and diagnosed it as a blown thermostat. He ordered one, paid an extra $10 for it to be rushed to us and get here April 1 or 2. But it didn't get here until the 7th. Too cold (or wet) to hang on the line, so a lot of stuff piled up. I washed socks and underwear and draped them over chairs a couple times.

The dryer is fixed. I am so turned off Amazcon, I never want to deal with them again. Maybe if we had Prime, they would have done a better job. But I refuse to get Prime.

I'm thinking of a couple of things I want to buy, and I'm sure I can get them online, but since Grand Rapids is close enough, I'll look online, find businesses, and call and ask.

Sally,,, :hugs Don't get too frustrated. Just FYI.. Not all things sold on Amazon are from Amazon warehouses. So if your item was from a different supplier selling thru Amazon,,, that may be the reason for the delay.
I personally have no quarrel with Amazon. :old
PRIME,, only works out if you do purchase many items. This way your shipping is free on your purchases. Of course there is the hefty Prime fee. But in particular,, my DD#3 and her DH gets many items from Amazon,, so prime does benefit them.:old

Yes, it turns out that the part came from some individual in Idaho (?) who probably never knew we paid the money for Priority Mail. It came ground advantage, and it took almost a week longer than advertised.
I bet you could contact Amazon and make them refund the priority shipping fee.
We have Prime. We use it a lot, so its very worth it for us.

I counted 3 tomato sprouts in the green house! Two of them are in the "hook" stage -- the tiny curl of stem that often shows before the cotyledons pop up. The third is a tiny pair of leaves.

I have 2 cucumbers trying to pop up, and 5 marigolds have been up for a few days.

Tomorrow is supposed to be grey, but warm, 60° for a high.

I turned my compost pile today. Lots of chicken poop and last year's garden clean up that sat over the winter. I'm doing the Berkeley "hot rot" method -- turning it every 2-3 days. I should have useable compost in a month or less.

I also called a local garden center to see if they have rhubarb crowns. I have 3 rhubarb plants. One is going gangbusters. One is just getting started, and the 3rd is teeny. I want 2 more plants because I learned that I flat out LOVE rhubarb jam. I have 2 jars left, and I'm hording them.

I'll be able to get some rhubarb from my gangbuster plant, maybe a few stalks from the one getting started, but nothing from the teeny one. And I won't take anything from a new plant. Like asparagus, you let them grow for 3 years, and then hopefully you have rhubarb every spring from then on.

Maybe I'll buy some at the farmstand so that I can make a lot of jam this year.
