Sally's GF3 thread

Sunny today. I'll be planting my garlic and multiplier onions today. It's nice that the ground got a good soaking yesterday, and there is some more rain predicted in the next 2-3 days. Perfect time to plant these things and let them establish roots before the ground freezes.

Speaking of freeze... we may finally get a (bug) killing frost later in the week. I sure hope so! Kill the :ducyellow jackets, flies, and box elder bugs!

We got a generous inch today. Spread out over much of the day, so it had plenty of time to soak in before the next batch rolled through. More on the way tomorrow too, I think.

While I surely wish we'd had some of this during the dry spells this past summer, I'm very grateful for rain now. Our general area has been about 10" short on rain for the spring/summer/fall season, and last winter was short on snow. There are a lot of people depending on wells for their water, and I'm among them.

I like this quotation:

"Despite all our accomplishments, we owe our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains." --Paul Harvey
