Sally's GF3 thread

I am officially relieved of pie making duty. Hubby has made the nicest looking lemon-lime meringue pie ever to come out of our oven. He also likes pie crust, so he made the crust. (I always bought it.) I have never made a decent pie crust, gave up, and now I can't eat them anyway.
:bow
I think I might still have it in me to pumpkin un-pie someday. :thumbsup

I do need a new snow shovel. I wore out the ones we had. Maybe I will get two, one for fluffy snow and one for ☃️ snow.
I ended up with a "snow pusher." It is awesome! Way better than a shovel as long one has a paved driveway, which we do now after years of not having one. And as long as the banks aren't too high. The pusher will throw the snow up about 8" inches easily and 18" without lifting the blade if dh is doing it and gets a good run at it.

I think I'll still get a snow shovel, though. It was the original plan. There is less need for it than I thought there would be but still enough reason to get it to justify the cost and the space in the garage. Or not. Dh thinks the square nosed garden shovel to move the snow banks back worked well enough. We will try it through a few more big storms before deciding.

I will coat both shovels with paraffin so the snow slides off better, though.

🤦‍♀️ I just recently threw out a couple of boxes of paraffin blocks because they'd been on the shelf for about 30 years. I figured if I hadn't found a use for them by now, I didn't need them. We may have brought them with us when we moved here, 31+ years ago.

I think today hubby and I will go to the store. We'll take the Jeep, since the tires on the car are not great. Not old, just kind of cheap and crappy tires that don't grab very well. That's what was on when we bought the car. With the dry summer, we didn't realize how little traction they had. Hankook is the brand, if anyone has any opinion on those, and any recommendations for tires.

Our road was plowed yesterday, but it had been driven on and the snow had settled so there are a lot of icy spots. The ground was warm enough to soften/melt the snow, but it froze at night. Right now, it's 19° so I'm sure everything is frozen solid.

We've eaten all the turkey. The mashed potatoes and gravy were gone on day 3 of leftovers. Hubby finished off his pie last night. The fridge is somewhat bare.

He usually doesn't want to go shopping, but when he goes -- if he takes his patience and doesn't leave it in his back pocket -- he will find stuff he likes to eat. If he goes, at least he can't complain that "there's nothing to eat!"

Ok, he still can complain, but I'll just laugh at him.
