Salmon Faverolle at least 1 year old does not lay, ever....

at first I was worried that that's why he sold her, but then I remembered that he had a flock of lets say 20 Faverolles and he just caught the two he got first, ,,,, they were not separated, he even told us that the eggs will be fertilized at first since they had a roo in with them....

Choco Maran, ----> that would really make sense!

we don't have a rooster.

Well tomorrow I will put vinegar in the water, add Cayenne pepper to the food, lay a golf ball in the nest, take pictures of the birds .... am I forgetting something?

If your birds free range have you looked for hidden nests? Try keeping them confined to the coop for a few days and see what happens.

Just curious--I always wonder how folks know a specific bird isn't laying. How do you know the other of the same breed is laying and this one isn't?

donrae: I know because almost everytime the one chicken is not with the others shortly after that I have an egg, the chicken in question is never "missing".

I have confined them to the coop, put vinegar in the water, added golfballs to the nests and added another bowl with nesting material and an golfball to a different area, maybe she does not like her nesting boxes... also here are some pictures.

so we have 2 nestboxes in our coop and I put 2 golfballs in one and 1 in the other nestbox, this morning lucy had moved all golfballs in one nestbox and is now trying to hatch them.... great!

and Sue still does not care.

looking at the birds, anybody any input?

If she's trying to hatch the golf balls, she's probably trying to be broody. You can try and break her broodiness by putting her somewhere that she doesn't have access to a nest, or you can put fertile eggs (or day old chicks) under her at night and let her get it out of her system.

day 4 has started and we're still hoping that sue will lay.

Now that Lucy is broody (and last time it took her a good week and a half to snap out of it) we have no eggs at all.

I don't really want to put eggs under her, since 1st, we're getting ready to move within the next month and as of right now, I have no way of separating her from the others.

A faverolle rooster looks completely different than a hen they are black and hen are kinda whitish.
