Hi all--
I ordered baby chicks from My Pet Chicken and got them about a week ago. I paid extra to get all females, but of course I understand that mistakes are made, and My Pet Chicken warns of a 10% failure rate on sexing. HOWEVER, it seems odd that I might have ended up with a male Salmon Faverolle, since that breed is particularly easy to sex. Here is a pic (sorry for the poor quality...my good camera is in another state at the moment!) that clearly shows black feathering on the wings of the chick in question. His sibling has only tan/brownish feathering on her wings and is clearly a female. What say you all? I had been planning on eating any roosters I might have ended up with, but of course I've fallen in love with the little devil. I can't have roosters in the city where I live, but I'm sure I'd have no problem finding him a home. Let me know what you think!
