I realize technically it is way too early to know the gender of these babies. But, if we were guessing based on wing feathers, would 1 be a cockerel and 2 and 3 pullets?

They are approximately 5 days old. I realize that in salmon faverolle the males typically have the black, while females do not. But, I've also seen where some start off with what looks back, but turns more to a mahogany color later.

SFs have very different feathering between the genders. I would also be watching #2 as a possible cockerel.

I had thought about that as well. But after playing around on Google for a bit, I came across several others who had babies with coloring like #2, and turned out to be a pullet.

Time will tell. But I'm really hoping I'm correct on my guessing. I plan to keep this thread updated with pictures. Though I may want a figure out a way to mark #1 so I don't get it confused with #2

How do your Salmon Faverolles look now, @TabbieFayth?

Yes! They are about 6 weeks old now. Here is an updated photo of 2 and 3. These are the ones I suspected were pullets. A raccoon took the one I thought was a cockerel.

#3 is being questioned. There is a brighter comb than the other, but no other visible signs of a rooster yet. S/he is not pure white, more off white with some scattering of a red/brown PhotoGrid_1592945073269.jpg PhotoGrid_1592945039389.jpg

3 is definitely a cockerel

Thank you! I have two that are 3wks old and have some dark...but they’re hatchery chicks, so I’ve been looking for good grow-out pics. Yours are so gorgeous! Are they friendly? Mine are skittish and scream when I try to hold them 🤣 I call them “fussy” haha!

They cantbdecide if they are scared of us or not. My 14 year old can scoop them up with no problem, and they just chill with her. But they run from me 😆

Just another update. This is #3. Who has been named Fluffster 🤷‍♀️ And it is keeping me confused. At the beginning, color and wings said pullet. Then 2 weeks ago, we all guessed cockerel.

But then tonight, I witnessed my bantam cochin rooster try to mount #3 😳😆 Fluffster did like all the other pullets try doing, just tried running lol. Maybe I just saw things wrong. Pretty sure my salmon faverolle are only about 8 weeks old. So maybe Loki was just picking a fight with #3

Regardless, look at those side burns 😆
