Hi. I have a Salmon Faverolle chick that I ordered from Meyer Hatchery. 'She' is supposed to be a girl. I ordered 3 SF from Meyer but only one is alive now. The others, when they arrived, had visible beards but this chick has no beard in sight! Could the beard grow when she grows all of her feathers or is she going to always be 'beardless'? The chicks are about 1 month old now. I will post a picture in a few minutes :) Thanks!

Faverolles do go through a stage around that age when they appear to have no beard. It usually reappears around 8-10 weeks of age.

Sorry about the picture! It got dark before I could take the pic! I really try to upload some tomorrow! And @ keesmom, thanks for the reply! But when this chick was first hatched (4/5 days) she didn't appear to have a beard and the others did. Is that normal?

Hi PoultryGirly, can't wait to see your picture. No, it is not normal for a Faverolles to have no beard at all. Does she have puffier than expected neck feathers/hackles?

Other signs she is/is not a Favorolles:
An extra back toe (5 all together, most other breeds have 4)
White/pinkish legs (many other breeds have yellow)
Feathered feet (most breed are clean legged)

Well, this is what mine look like as chicks (the grey one is a bantam white Faverolles)

And around a month, not much for muffs/beard

And around 12 weeks old it's starting to grow in
