Salmon Faverolles critique

Hi all,

I was wondering if there was anyone here who could tell me if it would be worth taking these two Salmon Faverolles hens to a show? I've never been before and was planning to go to open days and other shows this year to learn more but everything has been cancelled due to Covid of course, except one state show that is still scheduled for August.

I'm in Australia and can't find a copy of the standard online and to buy the standards book is $100+ and I'm not confident in my ability to interpret it properly anyway. I don't care about winning, more interested in knowing if they have any glaring issues that would make it not worth it. I have literally no experience with showing, beyond a bit of spectating.

Have labelled the photos but the first ones are of Shirley who has darker back feathers and is a little smaller than Laverne.

Thank you it's probably a difficult question to answer online. I'm very fond of them, they're lovely chickens. My dad likens them to loyal dogs that follow you around everywhere. Shirley is a lap chook too. She likes to sit on my lap a d talk to me while I stroke her.

They’re not bad! While they are smaller than those that breeders own, and have a few type flaws, they don’t show the color flaws that many hatchery birds do. Hatchery birds often have black in the beard and breast.
I prefer the first for the tail angle and the even red color across the back. Salmon Faverolles are kind of two-toned, red on top, cream on the bottom.
However, the second does seem larger so it would be worth it showing her too.
It will be a great learning experience to show.
If you ever consider exhibiting seriously, the Standard is definitely an investment that’s worth it, a long with some breeder birds.
