salmon faverolles

i'm planning on getting some faverolles next spring, i was wondering if anybody who already has them would mind telling me a little about the breed? i think they're gorgeous and am really excited.

i've read that they're pretty docile, friendly birds. anyone else who's got some experience want to share?

I absolutely love this breed. you should definately get one. They are super friendly and sweet not to mention I have heard they are good layers. So i just recently got two cream legbars to add to my flock and as you may know, its not easy introducing new hens. I happen to have two coops leading into one run. I decided to start with putting my faverolles (Little Bo) with the two new legbars. Absolutely no problems. No pecking or anything since little Bo was and still is the bottom of the pecking order. I let them bond for a few days. Then I added my red sex link and she would pick on them a little but when she did, the most amazing thing happened, lowly little Bo would stand up and peck Amelia Egghart (my red sex link) to defend the little girls. After a fed days of getting them used to each other, I kept adding new chickens each time little bo would protect the little chickens. She also got some of other hens to protect the little ones. All my hens are pullets and havent started laying yet so its not like Little bo hatched the eggs and raised them, I bought the legbars as pullets and shewas protecting them after only a few days. Im guessing that she will grow up to be a good broody hen and mother and thay may or may not be a good thing for you. we have our hens for eggs so its kind of bad, but its good to have at least one good mother in your flock in case you want to hatch eggs or if you're just introducing new chickens.
