I have bantam Salmon Faverolles, They are awsome layers even in winter. They will go broody. I had one out of three set on eggs last year. She was a wonderful mom, I didn't think she would ever let her chicks go. They are gentle and inquisitive but not as loud as my RIR. They love to free range and are little piggies. They tend to get overweitht so you have to be on the lookout for that. My girls are not snuggle bunnies. They don't like to be held but like to be around when I am out. They are neither flighty or shy. The best thing I have found about them is that they are so tolerent of newbies I don't have problems with introducing new birds with these guys. The rooster is just fantastic. He is just perfect as a pet in every way. I can't say enougth about them. You have been given some good resources, I hope yo enjoy them as much as I do.
By the way the bantams are not really small birds. They lay eggs that would be graded as medimum once they reach their full size.
