Or possibly the "Salmon-Burgler" if someone feels they got stolen from!

(I really wanted to say "SamBurgler" but didn't think anyone would follow my train of thought..i.e. salmon...sam..Ham..Hamburgler....guess if one has to explain one loses any bit of humor that might have been there to begin with. I'll leave now.

If you don't have a wheaten hen, I would suggest Black, just like in other project color breedings. The Salmon color is really Silver Wheaten, so you could follow the footsteps of Faverolle breeders, since it already is an established color in that breed. The bird is Pure Silkie & not a crossbred from another breed, so the breed type is already there, you would only have to work on breeding for more consistant color.

I have a partridge pullet from you, could you breed him to her?

I would say, of course. Not sure of the results thought. But since this is a completely new color & the only way to know for sure what and how the color will go from here, is to experiment! So I say, Go For It! Would love to see your girl, here is a pic of one of the mom's that your girl is from. She went to her first show the other week & took Best Of Breed. She was in the breeding pens for the last year, and decided to come out for a few shows!

She is beautiful!

I wondered about using a diluted splash (from splash x splash) with your guy. I am thinking from a genetics perspective, not from any breeding experience.
Your thoughts, April?

The sky is the limit! The worst that could happen is you get something totally wild in color & it makes a nice pet for someone! It's not like you would lose in the Breed Type area. I have found that the color is so strong in the Salmon, that whatever you cross with it, you end up with a strong group that is close to the original color. So I would say take the f2 cross & linebreed it back to the parent color, ie the Mcflurrie dad here, and you will be doubling up his genetics, therefore giving you 75% his DNA. And you should get a large percentage of his coloring in the f3 gen. May take a few hatches to achieve the 75%, based on the 100% hatch rate.

In my breeding I found the same to be true of the Porcelain color that I have here. No matter what I have bred to, I get a high % of Porcelain, when only one parent is a porcelain.
