Salpingitis / Lash Egg / soft shell egg / no shell egg

You all are the best and I would really appreciate your input here. I have a 2 year old EE who I believe has salpingitis. The progression of symptoms were a soft shelled egg, then an egg with no shell, then what I believe was a lash egg which was expelled with a lot of fluid. She eats normally, drinks normally and isn't acting unusual at all. I've isolated her from the flock and she's been on amoxicillin (FishMox) for 3 days now. I've given her 125mg twice a day. She hasn't layed anything since starting the antibiotic which I would expect and continues to act normally. Her stool started out with very small green extrusions (1/4 inch in diameter or so) which was inside of quite a bit of liquid. Now, the green section is about 1/2 inch in diameter with less liquid. I"m hoping this is a sign of healing. I'm sure you'll all give me your opinions. How long should I give her the amoxicillin for and how long is the withdrawal period. I'm also giving her Nutri drench and calcium citrate with vitamin D. Sorry but I don't have any pictures to post.

Usually around five days of treatment, I would not eat the eggs for two weeks afterwards, but others might say one week, or a month.
I base my answer on my knowledge, and it can be done differently depending on the situation.

Amoxicillin dosing is 57mg per pound of weight given orally twice a day for 7-10days.


Withdrawal period if 14days after the last dose, so you if you give for 10days, your withdrawal period would be for 24days.

I just posted a very similar thread! I have been using amoxicillin for my hen, but she is now laying very thin shelled eggs. I have read that the salpingitis can also cause them to be egg bound, so if she has not been laying it may be worth doing the epsom salt baths and treating for being egg bound just in case! I've also read you can sometimes feel if they are egg bound by examining them.
