Hi all! I’m hoping for some guidance on how to treat my hen who just laid a lash egg. I’m ordering Baytril 10% Liquid and Amoxicilin 250mg (both to have on hand). Which one would be better? Can I do both or is that not recommended? Thanks!

I would not do both. I personally would use the baytril, that is generally recommended. Salpingitis is very resistant to treatment unless caught early, so I would use the stronger for it. I just treated one of mine with it, she is looking and feeling better for now, time will tell. Sometimes the antibiotics will knock it back and give them some more time. Dosing I use for the 10% solution orally (for a 6 lb 14 oz bird) is .312 ml twice a day, or .468 ml once a day, or .625 ml once a day. Those are based on the dosages of 10 mg/kg of body weight twice a day for 5 days, 15 mg/kg once a day for 5 days, 20 mg/kg once a day for 5 days. I used the middle one and gave .5 ml once a day.

Great, thank you so much! I hope your hen continues to do well :)
