So my saga continues:(
My girls, Salt and Pepper were fine all morning.
But when I came out with the 2:00 salad, Pepper seemed lethargic.
A friend of mine who breeds chickens, in fact that’s were these two came from, came over and gave them dewormer just in case.
Now Salt is pale.
Is that normal?
Hoping and hoping all will be good.

LoL you and your SLW’s. Ya know my Miss Hollywood (just gotta show her off) had a interesting similarity to yours. Her comb would go off color (a kind of orange). It has not been happening lately. It was extremely hot (terrible awful) and I noticed this. I kept an eye on her as this could be a sign of fatty liver disease and I’m guilty of giving too many treats that are known to contribute to FLD. But I promise you...I noticed it would come and go with her...temper tantrums she’s such a brat!!! No kidding! A couple minutes after she got her attention or treat or whatever “her highness” wanted her comb would regain its normal color. Can you believe THAT! :lau

Miss Hollywood is so pretty!

Seriously, unless you see evidence of worms, or test fecal material for worms and get a confirmation one should not treat for worms.

I would separate her from the healthy chicken if I thought she was sick, and see what happens. Guessing and giving medicine is not good animal husbandry. So many people on here come up with diseases I have never heard of or seen evidence of my birds having and treat without any testing.

Neither chicken looks sick to me, the pale one with her mouth open looks hot. What is the temperature? Are they laying eggs? Are they eating? When they get really hot, they get lethargic, just laying around. Try wetting down the soil.

When mine walk around with their mouths open I put a shallow pan of water with ice in it and add a bowl of sunflower seeds in the middle so they have to stand in the ice water to eat them! They usually finish the bowl and then love to play in the water. Not too much ice, just so that it cools the water

Thanks for the information.
It is really hot here, 106:/ so perhaps it is just the heat. Hopefully tomorrow, she will be back to normal.

Seriously I love my misters got them at Home Depot. Best 24$ I EVER spent. On days when I work the garden I have a chair in the run and I go in there to cool off. They are easy to put up and it knocks 20 degrees off the temperature. The ground gets moist and the girls cool their feet off. I think they are amazing!!
