Seems to me salt blocks are made specifically for cows, hoses, deer, mammals in general. I don't think I've seen a salt block made and marketed for fowl. That seems to mean something.

Do you feed your chickens a commercially made poultry feed?Can I crush a salt water block a put small portions of it in the chicken waterer? They keep getting into the horse barn and are pecking at the block! I wonder if I gave them small quantities of it I could actually get them to stop trying to eat the block. I buy the Sturdy Steed candy apple block. Thank you.
I don't think @Cryss meant to imply that chickens don't need salt.But to say chickens *never* need salt is not always true, as some people feed them diets that may not have enough salt in them.
