San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

OMG - I just saw the pic of the QH at the back slider... that's awesome! I'm sure mine would do that if I gave them the chance; they do think they're people. If they escape from their half of our property, they usually just go straight to the front lawn and start grazing. I wonder what the chickens would think of that?

Empireranch, now I know why you wanted to talk horses at the last meetup! Your girl is very pretty; is she a liver chestnut? Her coloring looks so nice and rich.

With the MM order, I do have one more question: are we allowed to add in additional items that aren't organic? I didn't see any unsweetened beet pulp pellets on the list, but I could definitely use a few bags of those, too.

I bought her sight unseen off a picture showing her "figure" and thought Gawd that would be a Lipitt if she were only smaller.

I am reconfiguring corrals Goat pens and Chicken coops so that I can see Everyone from my bedroom slider. And can get out there with a shot gun if I have to protect them. Katee is pretty good at souding the alarm 2000 lbs of thundering snorting hoofies in pitch black would scare away any human intruder. I get Bob cat, Mountain lion, and Feral dogs where i am and they wont touch a horse her size so the goats are going in with her. The chickens are going in nearest to the house. I lost my last flock entirely after two years within 30 days from Bob cat or at least thats what I was told by the local ranchers. They told me Bob cats if they are raising their young will take one or two chickens per day. I have to be aware of the time of year they will be raising their young.

Two things I am doing is creating a secure place for the chickens to live. First and foremost being dilligent in bed times and getting the flock to their coop I suspect a trigger sound like the dinner bell triangle i have on the front porch and some Meal worms. Then the coop is being redesigned so they will be more comfortable living there at night time. The guineas will be my watch dogs till I can get a livestock guardian dog. I also need a Rat terrier and a queensland and "a Big dog that barks and looks scary but is a big goober when you actually walk up to him" to intimidate people. Sad to say there is a flood of humanity that flows through this land seeking a better life. As long as they keep going I am ok with that. The "Big scary goober dog" is for that.

SO needless to say Coop redesign is only the tip of the iceberg. I am soo excited about this meetup. Especially since it includes San Diego people.

Perichie Girl, I think you need to talk to Knock Kneed about a St Bernard rescue

Anything that is on their website/ price list.

Here's what we have so far. Running tab, so let me know if you want to change anything or add etc..

Were going to aim to get the order in before the meet-up so we can all pickup there- you would pay for your feed to me when you pick it up, and then I pay the invoice in full after they deliver... Easy peasy!
