San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Can we make sure it is somewhere near the parking lot, so I can set-up everything of mine right outside the tailgate of the truck? I don't want to leave the feed in the truck whilst I go off looking for everyone.

The spot I am trying to get is right next to the parking lot and the outlets.

I forgot to bring food for the ducks when I went today. They sure were hungry, some of the male mallards were acting like duck duck, nipping at me and stalking us. I'm going to bring some Mazuri tomorrow but there is enough hungry ducks that they could probably eat a 50 lb bag in one feeding! Poor things.

I don't think I will bring duck duck this time, I don't know if he can control himself around all those ducks and I'd rather him not to be too close to them (possibly biting at them) for biohazard reasons. I would have to pen him and I am using the pen for other birds this time.
I am going to bring Leah though. She is very well behaved and prefers people over other ducks. The man that I got her from used to bring her there often so it is her old "stomping grounds", she's done great with the diaper and people can hold her and pet her.

So far we have:

Phage - dessert

Tigerlilly - chicken wings

Crazy Huhn - chips and salsa

dfdesigns - meatballs

desertdarlene - chocolate chip cookies

Thanks...I guess I'm just worried it might be too overstimulating for them.

I'm not a chicken, but I figure that plenty of pre-teen girls live with this color scheme.

Allison, I am going to take a pic of the little chick and you can tell me what you think. She is very lite in color and then she has this brown blob on her head. I guess I have a 50/50 chance but I really think it is a SHE.

I hope so because if it is a she, she can stay here w/ her mother. Which btw is laying every other day. I think the RIR is on strike. I am going to shake the soup pot and see what she does. I am only kidding of course.

I'm bringing some bird seed, too. They were so hungry yesterday. When the weather's bad, people don't come to feed them. And, of course, they put those signs up and told a couple of people to stop. Tom, the big muscovy duck you will see there, is mostly blind and he will bite your hand if he thinks there's something in it to eat, but he's not being mean and doesn't bite hard. His eyesight has been getting worse lately. It's been slowly going bad for the last two years.

Also, look for Curly. Curly is funny as he's a duck with a deformity but he makes up with it with a lot of fight. He doesn't like it when Tom hangs around me and even jumped on Tom and nipped at him. Tom is probably 10X heavier than Curly, so it was funny. Curly also pokes Tom in the chest a lot, too.

Hi SD chicken people, I am looking for fertile likley double yolkers for a study at UCSD. If anyone has any or gets them regularly I would LOVE to buy them.
