San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Awesome! I could use two, and I can certainly meet you tomorrow. I will call you later and figure out the best place to find you....

THANKS! My two poor barebacked girls will thank you, too!

HI all!! I"ve been away from BYC for a while now. Sorry to say that we must adopt out two of hens if anyone is interested. One is a Red Star about 1 year old, lays daily, and the other is an EE about 16 months old. The EE lays light green/blue eggs every other day. They would be free with food. (this is sad and hard

.

Our home of 20 years in going on the market this July. And we have to clean up the yard...as you can image.

I am keeping the two little Cochins. Though one of them is broody and has stopped laying. Oh, well.

Please let me know asap if anyone can help.

All the best,

Dee in Clairemont

Oh, Dee - I'm so sorry! Do you want them to stay together? I have room here, and could even offer to keep them until you find a new place...

Thank you so, so much. We are going into a much smaller place so won't have room for a large enough coop for the two big hens. I'm going to try to make the cochins workout. They're so little.

Where are you located? I'm in clairemont, off the 5 freeway. I'm happy to think they'd still be able to be together.

I'm in Ramona, very close to Dos Picos Park. If you want, I could meet you somewhere halfway on Saturday after we're done at Cari's house, or you're certainly welcome to come bring them here. Just let me know...

Thank you, Dana. I would love to take you up on your offer. It sounds like you have other hens to keep them company and they could use more friends! It's just the 4 of them here.

I'm not quite ready to let them go just yet, the house goes on the market after july 4th, so we have a little time. I would be happy to bring them out to you late next week. I feel really sick to my tummy thinking about it, like crying... But I also know they will be happier and they will forget about me soon enough!
I can't tell you how grateful I am to you for doing this. They are sweet girls, the EE is a bit bossy and kind of an escape artist, and the Red Star is sweet and docile and lays everyday. Here are the tears....is it really ok to cry about chickens? My friends would think i was nuts...

Thank you, thank you, thank you again. Let me know what day works best for you next week. That gives my husband and me time to clean up and tear down the large run and shrink down the hen house for the little ones. Make it look good for buyers.

Has anyone invented a hen beanie? or bonnet? My little bantie hen had a bald head. I took her away from the rooster, but sooner or later, she'll have to go back. She loves him anyways, and he's lost without her.
