thank you for the abby.hubby sees his signs on the way to work when he has to travel dowmn there.

did you all know there is a cow farmer on dye road here in ramona that sells his alfalfa and orchard grass.he is very resonable compared to the stores.
usually 3 cheeper per bale.

If you all go in together ill most likely pick some up also.

we guesstimate being able to store 10 bales at a time
not much but the goats dont use alot either

Orchard Grass (which is my girls' favorite) is $27/bale right now... no way can I afford that! I actually really like the sound of that discount hay that was alfalfa, bermuda & orchard. I have a big open trailer, but I'm not sure I could get enough to offset the gas. Are these the standard 100 lb-ish bales, or those super big squares I saw when we drove out to AZ?

I had no idea about the hay co-op, either; I guess I should have piped up much earlier. No delivery with the co-op? Is it pick up only?

Yes, that ad was from Craigslist. I may still give him a call and try to get all the details. Orchard & timothy would be a nice mix.

Yes, the Co op is pick up only. It's really nice stuff, just bermuda and alfalfa though. They charge 60 cents on top of what they pay. That money goes to feed the rescue horses. The Co op was started as the economy started to dive and people were losing homes, therefore no place for their horses. Others have had to give up their horses because they couldn't afford to feed them. Like I said, alfalfa is the same price as in the feed stores in Ramona, the difference is you're getting a nice 130 lb. bale instead of a stalky 90 lb bale. There is supposedly going to be a hay shortage this winter, boosting prices. Good stuff will be hard to come by as the winter progresses. That's what the word on the street is anyhow.

our little birchon free ranging modern went broody.we would see her for an hour then gone, never came to roost at night
.im freaking out looking everywhere for something that could fit in a cup.
well today ds and i saw here walking around and we lagged behind her to watch and see.she jumped up on a sandbox with a cover half cocked then as we approched she ran away .well we checked in there she has a clutch of 12 eggs

that little stinker she has been preparing for some time now.
i dont thnk any are fertile since we only have a fs rooster about but thoght we would let her sit on them for 3 weeks and see what happens.

she will be in a safe house once hubby comes home and converts half the goat stale into a brooder for her.

hope she likes it.

if they dont hatch and she still wants to be a mommy we will stick couple eggs under her.

just a cute story and im so glad we found her.i was always so worried about her out there un protected from the animals of the night.

Hi Renee!

I love a happy ending!
I lost Bumble (splash silkie roo) one night and looked high and low, next day he heard me whistling and there was a plop
as he flew/dropped down from up under the deck. Startled the heck outta me, I was real glad to see him though.
I gave him a bit of a haircut so he can at least see a little better! now I can't sneak up on him as EZ!
He is always the last one to go in at night, a real party animal!

CYA tomorro,
Glenn
