I am not sure that anyone else has any of these (apart from Kev).

I'd give them more time. If you butcher them then restart with chicks you're going to have to wait for eggs anyhow.

I have 17 hens... yesterday I got 4 eggs, which is the best day I've had recently. If they were mine, I'd give them a little more time before I sent them to the stew pot.

Now I know why people like to have chickens with staggered ages!

So it's normal for them to completely stop laying? (Not a single egg in 4 months?) If so, what is the longest "break" a healthy hen could take?

I know there is going to be a silliy stupid easy answer to this but....how do I get an e-mail message when this thread is updated?

I am SUBSCRIBED and it has my correct e-mail.

But, I never get any notification to my e-mail when people post here.

Please advise.
