San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

I got lost trying to follow this thread. Where/when are we doing the feed pickup for your order Cari? (I'd vote El Cajon if we are still deciding). I like the new BYC Platform. I think its more accessible and aesthetically pleasing. :)

We are doing some of the feed to Ramona for those who live there or want to pick up at the meet-up. The rest is going to the Ranch here in Jamul where I will distribute/ deliver to El Cajon area.

Please PM me if you have anything to add or change. Also, please PM me or All-American-Chick if you have anything to donate for raffle and/or prizes.
Don't forget about the deviled egg contest!! AND it's not just the kids that can make a chicken hat! We'd love to see everyone coming in their best
chicken inspired finery. :)

Is anyone interested in two Swedish Flower Hen cockerels, 8 1/2 weeks? One is a big grey, with some red, crested boy. He has one crooked toe. The other is a red and white mottled boy with a grey/black crest popping up. These birds, if kept together consistently should have no problem being caged together with a flock. They're fun birds. They hang around, not flighty. I have two 12 week olds that follow me around the yard and when I'm working they like to be sunning themselves right next to me. If you have a mixed flock these boys would be fun to have. You never know what colors they'll throw.

Why aren't I keeping them. I got 6 cockerels out of 8 birds. :/ PM me if interested.

Oh, dear... what kind of odds are those?

My youngest hen, a Silver Laced Wyandotte, starting laying this weekend. She has passed my black Ameraucanas (who are almost 37 weeks and are still not laying...). Freeloaders!

I think we got 2-3 roo chicks and the rest girls from our first SFH hatch, and about 7-8 roos and 2 hens on the second.

Makes no sense, but at least it seems to have evened out. What is noticeable is the older (hen hatch) are all calm, and the second hatch are noticeably squabblers, even with the older chicks... Boys will be boys.....

Last year all I seemed to hatch out were boys. Out of 12 wheaten marans eggs I got 1 hen and 9 roos

and worse, 4 different sets of wheaten ameraucna eggs produced 5 pullets and a gazillion roos. They are some expensive pullets!! and now I do not think I will be keeping them

- Too many other fun projects...
