San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Well after reading some of your posts on here. I guess am not the only one, that went from a ton to none in the egg department . tryed everything to breck up the egg union but they are staying strong. Guess I will have to move the bq closer to the coop , then maybe they will get the hint.

Well, I caved yesterday and moved my broody Marans into private quarters and gave her a mess of eggs to sit on. (More Marans, 2nd gen OEs and some Silver Campines.) If any of them hatch, we'll have chicks here for the holidays...

:welcome Whitey! I got one egg out of 30 birds today. I stocked up ahead of time anticipating this drought.

Free to good home:
2 months old purebred bearded white silkie.... not sure about the sex yet (my guess is roo BUT not 100% sure)
It has 6 toes instead of 5  .... not a big deal, but I don't want to use it in my breeding pen.
Hi. If they are still available. I would like to have them

LOL classic.

Dana, this is the first egg from the sister of the wheaten ameraucana hens you got earlier this year. She just started laying this week.

That egg is one of the prettiest that I have seen......

I "desire" some of those in the spring. But I think that I would rather have a Wheanten Am mix as all of my ams are feather pickers. Phage please post follow up of her production qualities.

Sounds like a EGG STRIKE instead of a union.

KKH Your plan was clever. I admit I was able to stock up a two dozen also but that was by chance. I have seventeen hens and got ZERO eggs today. But I started fermented feed when the daylight increases I hope to have all the birdies restart production.

but so far she has laid 4 eggs in 5 days.
I have her sister who is not laying yet and some wheaten ameraucana x cream legbars. I can't wait t see how and what they lay. They will hopefully be better blue egg producers than pure wheaten ameraucanas. They are really pretty too.

The lone ameraucana I am keeping will also be used to make more legbar crosses next year.

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great thanksgiving. Egg production is down for me too and my yard looks terrible....soooo many feathers everywhere.

I have a bunch of silkie mix chicks available and some black sizzles if anyone is interested. $3-5. They are cute bantams about 8-9 wks old, living outside no problem. The ones I can tell are boys are free. I have a cute bantam polish boy and some modern game bantam roos for free too.

If anyone is interested or knows anyone who is just pm me. I really have to downsize!

I like the idea of those crosses and would like to see your posts on their production.
