San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

So after hooking up a couple neighborhood families. I still have about 18 chicks that I don't want to keep. They are hatchery quality. I have some brown leghorns, a naked neck, some New Hampshire, Delaware, a few Brahmas, buff Orphingtons, and a couple others that can't pop into my head right now. Anyone interested??? If I have to sell them on craigslist whats a fair price for a 7-8 week old hatchery pullet??

Does anyone have any of the following fertile eggs they are selling?

Wyandotte, Rhodebar, or Sussex

PM with your price - or I can trade for legbars
i have a pair of spekled sussex im selling for $55.00they came from phage via gail.please pm if interested.they have been seperated from the flock now for close to a month and awaiting those first eggs.

So I have some ducks and they were laying great but recently I've been finding hollow duck eggs and today I caught them in the act

So I have six egg eating ducks (they don't eat the chickens eggs though

) I wanted to sell them before that but now I don't know if anyone would want them...maybe if they were in a different environment they'd stop but I don't know

But if anyone would still want them I'd sell them pretty cheap or trade for a couple hens. If not I may just have to have a large duck feast lol!
All six are eating the eggs? How are they cooped in? Or how much free space do they have? I saw a soft shelled duck egg while I was putting my chickens away one night and I turned around and the ducks ate it. They have not tried to eat any of the hard shelled eggs nor the chicken eggs. I am wondering if your situation was brought on by a soft shelled egg. I let mine roam the property. I may be interested if it was isolated and I can watch the culprit but if all 6 are eating then you need to have a feast in my mind.

I'm looking for Wynadotte, Australorp, Buckeye or Sussex eggs/chicks/pullets. &nbsp;</p>

Hi

I have Black Australorp and Silver Wyandotte eggs available but with all the bad press I'm getting on Craigslist I'm not sure you can trust me or the hens to produce.

Don't listen to them Gail!!!! That person must be a bitter shell of a person to say such mean and nasty things! I defended you on Craigslist! You are wonderful. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!!!!

I guess I should have worded it a little better. I don't know for sure if all six are eating them or not. I only caught one in the act but I know that only duck eggs are being eaten. I haven't had a soft shell egg that I've seen. I don't really know how it started they were all fine at first then I started finding hollwed out egg shells all over the pen (when my chickens have eaten a broken egg they leave nothing behind). They are in with my chickens but I let them free range at least three times a week (more if I have time) I try to get the ducks out of the pen to free range with the rest but they refuse to leave the pen

I went down there earlier than usual today and found four duck eggs perfectly intact. Maybe I'm just not collecting soon enough, I just never had this issue with my chickens. I was going to sell them before I found out about the egg eating. I like the ducks but I think they'd be happier with other ducks and more room to themselves. I have a big watering tank for them to swim in but they hardly use it and it's just taking up space :/ at least five are laying and I get anywhere from three to five eggs a day (I think one is molting). If you think you are still interested pm me
