San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

WHY do they make this so CONFUSING??? Or is it because I'm blond???

I'll take a look into what I inquired about because I am not sure the difference. I just want to sell eggs, thats all, at my property, to friends and neighbors. No one is concerned about grading, just good clean healthy eggs. My husband is a nervous nelly and wants me to go through the proper channels so we don't get sued if someone gets sick.....and I dont' even think having a license will prevent that.

anyhow, thanks...I'll check more into who and what I did???
If i remember correctly you dont need a license to sell off your own property as long as you arent selling over 300 eggs per week.... Or if you dont have more than three hundred chickens.... You can even post a sign on your property to sell eggs. But once you go away from your property you have to be "giving them away" like at the office or at a meetup. For a donation is a non issue.

BUT I need to dig up my links and if and when I find them I will share them. So dont take anything I say for gospel.... please

I have an egg handlers license. If you have more than 500 hens or sell off your property you have to pay the mill fee. I didn't see anything that says I need a second license. If there is more than one thing you need they need to be more clear, I can't find it!!

I may still go to meet up but I won't be able to bring any chicks..I've terrible losses with my shipped chicks lost 9 out 25. Good news MM is kind enough to replace them for me. Very happy but a little worried. First time with shipped chicks and the experience has me freaked a bit. Hoping for better survival out this bunch.

That's terrible. What do you think happened? Or just not thriving? I usually buy from ideal, but I wanted to try some from mcmurray. My shipment will be in may.
