San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Could I be listed as a hobbyist hatcher??
I hatch just about all the time for myself and others for fun. I do not keep roos long so usually buy eggs, which are almost always very good quality. I keep one chick (a hen hopefully but have been wrong so often!) and sell the rest to just to cover the egg costs. I usually have slkies, marans, and BLRW, and in season peachicks.

Hi! I just picked one up at Dan's Feed & Seed (41065 1st Street Temecula, CA 92590-2711 - (951) 676-4040) in Temecula. It was $21.98 plus tax. I wanted to get it to Racine but can't get a hold of her. Racine, if you're online, PM me and I'll get this pen to you, otherwise I'll just keep it for myself.

I also saw them at the feed store at East County Feed & Supply (10845 Woodside Avenue, Santee - (619) 562-2208) in Santee for about $23.98, sitting right out front.

Naomi,

I did get mine at Dan's. Perhaps when you are out next Saturday you can swing by & pick one up. If they are out of stock, let me know & I can bring you one on the 20th.

Hi everyone,I'm looking forward to our next meet up. I hope to have some sprouted wheatgrass to share by then. Is anyone else in our group doing this? I'm looking for a source for the wheat. I've also made a few more of the wire sculpture bookmarks. Looking forward to seeing everyone, and what ever you bring.

Well, I'm going to miss this one. Probably just as well, I'm still modifying my coop because of the last one and the birds that I brought home!!

I'll tell my mom though (she has no computer). She hasn't stopped talking about it and singing praises to Tigerrrrrrrlilly!!!

My bookmarks are pretty cute. Made freehand by me, using Artistic wire and some special jewelry pliers. I've got 4 made, and trying to get some more done for the meet up. Do you know who had the little chicken bells? They're pretty cute, too, and I'd like to try to get one. The wheat grass sprouts are something I'm looking forward to doing for my girls, and I will try to have a few to share, plus directions for anyone else who wants to try this. Find the thread on this site, under feeding and watering the chickens (index), with the title Wheat grass feeders. Looks like a good idea. See you on the 20th, where are we meeting?

I have a hard time with this one! Can't you make one day free and tie your hands behind your back or just make a sandwich placard to wear which says
DO NOT ALLOW ME TO BRING ANY FEATHERED ANIMALS OR OTHER ANIMALS HOME WITH ME !
