San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

I had to put down my Polish roo today. While I was out working my horses he got stepped on and his whole leg was torn off...... His name was Elvis and his lady Pricilla is very lonely in the coop all by herself now.  I got them both from the September meet up and the family just fell in love with them

On a better note, one of my two frizzled cochins laid her first egg today
I'm so sorry to hear bout Elvis! Poor guy

Rest in peace, Elvis...

On a much happier note, those surprise baby sheep are SO cute!

Hey guys I have a giant favor to ask. Can I borrow anyone's incubator for one to two hatches? I went to set my Brinsea back up this week and it's broken!

The temp sensor busted off the wires! I called Brinsea and the part costs as much as a whole new one! Oiy! I have orders to fill of chicks this and next month, so if anyone has one I could borrow it would be very greatly appreciated!!! Thank you!!!

Cari I have a brinsea 20 octagon you can use, but it has no turner. You should be able to use your turner though.

The only issue is that it needs to run on 240 V (it came from the UK) which you may have in for a stove or washing machine. It will also work with an inverter. We ran it on the kitchen counter plugged into the stovetop supply that dh wired in for our UK appliances. Got fabulous hatches even with "hand 'tipping" a few times a day before and after work.

No point though if you don't have 240v though......

I REALLY enjoyed reading your stories about your hatching adventures.
Maybe you would like to take some cream legbar eggs back with you?
