San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Aww sheepies.

Yes I have heard that sheep are a lot harder (and more wild) than goaties. I've also heard that if you bottle feed them they are EXTREMELY annoyingly needy.

If Ghiselle (my yearling) has babies in 4 months then I will!
See you are going to need help bottle feeding every four hours.

Hey everyone, I am sorry to break up the goat discussion here but I need help from you San Diegan chicken keepers! I just had an accident this morning, came out to find that my small game hen had died (only 2 years old). I am absolutely devastated, loved our little Sparrow to bits, but now I have another crisis to deal with. I need an adult (at least of laying age) bantam hen to replace her, as I now have a bantam rooster that needs a companion! he is my only other banty, so I really need a hen asap to try as a companion for him. my little roo is my pride and joy and I know he needs a buddy, so I am on the hunt for a pullet!

I have already put a post up on craigslist about this as well, as I already looked on craigslist today for bantam hens for sale, and only found one (and she looks JUST like the one that just passed away, so I would prefer to get a different looking banty, or I will just be reminded of the Sparrow that we lost). If any one of you has, or knows someone who has, a female bantam for sale, I am not very picky about the breed. I would prefer a bird that actually likes to be handled, or at least will allow us to catch her. All of my birds are pets only, and we eat the eggs but that is not why we have them.

I live in Bonita and I ma looking to adopt/buy a pullet within a couple days so my roo doesn't get lonely! If you have a bird for sale or adoption please let me know! You can either post here, send me a PM, or email me at barrie AT young-productions.com. Thank you very much, please help! :(

They are Sooo strikingly beautiful. Almost like deer. Though If I go for a ram I will look for one that is polled. Needy is good as long as you have good fence....

FYI for the Ramona branch of Modesto Milling: we are scheduled for a Friday delivery, sometime between 11-1pm. I'll send a pm when it has arrived!

REAVER sure hope that you can eventually find what you need and I suppose you will if you keep up the search. I live too far and only have four bantam hens and none are anywhere near an OEGB anyway.

Ok I don't really care about the breed of bantam so much! I just want another bantam so he has a female around his size. But no silkies, my husband doesn't like silkies :p. Thanks guys for the support! Hope to find a girl for my little boy soon! :(
