That's why I just start a hole somewhere, it always draws them in. I've seen them dust bath in every type of material, for mine it doesn't seem to matter and I don't bother making areas for them, they make their own.My birds have laughed at any sort of tub bath,
they prefer to dig up a bathing area in the ground.
I put the top to a shoe box in the brooder at about 4 weeks. The girls loved it!!! As they grew I upgraded to a cat litter box. It's hilarious to watch them all try to squeeze into the box at the same time, roll around to get dirty and flap their wings.I was so excited to put in a sand bath for my peeps. It is half wood ash and half sand . . while they think it is remotely interesting they have not taken a bath or done anything other than walk across it. How do they know to use it for bathing?
Six weeks here and they love it dig in their own holes and dirt and dust is flying LOL got a like that they sure do.Peat moss, potting mix contains pearlite, you don't want your birds eating that.
Turn over a shovel full of sod in the run or yard, they'll take it from there. What is the cheapest thing that will be good for them and fulfill all the needs?
What do you do in the winter when the ground is frozen? I've been wondering...Turn over a shovel full of sod in the run or yard, they'll take it from there.
There's no reason to buy anything.
