i used beach sand in my coop and run and it works just fine. Personally, I'd probably go with whatever is least expensive. Or the color you like best.

I use paver sand in my coop. Works just fine.

I may be wrong, but it's the sand you use when you are setting stones, like paver stones to make a pathway. Instead of cement, they set the bricks/stones in paver sand. It's slightly more coarse than play sand, but just as dusty.

It still beats anything else I've found.

Cool. I'm still new to sand as well, so I'm still learning. Just was wondering if that was something that I need to get. I"m obsessed with sand.

I wish I had realized that before duck math kicked into effect. Since I ended up with 2 drake Pekins (in addition to my 2 drake Mallards and only 3 Mallard ducks), I felt it was best to order some new girlfriends for the Pekins. Then, I needed to fill the minimum order, and those little runner ducks are just so cute....

Since my ducks have been free-ranging, I was unaware of the smell other than their pool water.

I had two ducks as a youngster. I kept them in the back yard. Nowhere in that yard could you walk and not slide. I don't have a memory like an elephant but I do remember that and I won't ever forget. I've also been to campgrounds with my fifthwheel and I thought somebody let there poodles roam and they a real mess. No, geese. I told the owner shoot those nasty creatures. He said I can't, they're protected. I said not if I owned the place. Here we go again.
