I have an opportunity to get a ton of river sand for $13, plus delivery. Was thinking that this would be a more comfortable material for their run that using wood chips. Does anyone have experience using sand? Pros? Cons? Thanks

Do a search for sand on this site - lots of info on it. Trick is to put it down on dry soil. Seems to work very well for those who use it, plus it's easy to clean. I have some on about 1/3 of my run and the girls love to scratch around in it. Good luck!

I bet it will feel good on their tootsies!!!

There are no down sides to usings sand. Even if you have to put it on damp ground it still works better than anything else you could use. The birds love being able to scratch and dust in it and cleaning is easily accomplished with a spring toothed rake. The use a bow rake to level.
