sand for the run?

Hello all, I am new to the chicken world - my 5 ( 4 week old) Brahmas are in care of a veteran chicken keeper, while I finish my coop. I really want to use sand in the run and coop, however the cost may hinder that -but while searching for wholesale sand I came across a local sandblaster company which sells this product http://www.andelaproducts.com/sunstone-products/brochure.html
I'm thinking of using this elsewhere in the yard but worry about the chickens mistaking it for sand. It may be safe for children to play in , but what happens if chickens ingest it?

If it is free of sharp edges, then it should work like a stone if they swallow it.

So, I would think it would be just fine!

No I couldnt get that product delivered, so I went with washed sand from the gravel yard. because my chickens were being delivered soon, but I still plan on using the glass product somewhere else in my landscaping - it looks awesome.
