Really? I have always wanted good Andalusians I may have to do that. Do you know of a good Bantam Andalusian Breeder?

I too am trying Superior Farms this year. I would be interested in seeing how your order turns out as well. I had thought of Sandhill, but then saw those pics about Superior and all they had available. They had nearly everything I wanted, so I took a chance. Danny promised that the one particular breed I really want has outstanding color and type. Let's hope so!

I am most excited about the Red Dorkings I ordered, I hope they look nice. Fingers crossed.

the chick in my avatar came from sandhill. i think overall they are a good hatchery to order from. there were some problems with my order but they addressed it and i ended up with some very nice birds. as far as pullet to cockerel ratio there were slightly more cockerels but had that same problem with some hatching eggs i bought last year. i would order from them again but right now i dont have to

I LOVE Blue Andalusians...they are one of my favorite white egg layers.

I need to call Superior Farms and see why they don't ship to my zip...

What breeds did you order? The breeds I ordered were nice with the exception of the white Ameraucana. The Blue Cochin were a little long bodied but had nice foot feathering and are nice large birds. The Delaware are nice big birds just an over abundance of cockerels and the Blue Orpington's are nice too.
I just could not help but be disappointed with my ratio of out of 25 chicks 19 were cockerels and 6 pullets. I hope I do better this time and get more Delaware pullets.

I hope it goes well for you too! If it does and I end up with the same results as last year...I may be ordering some hatching eggs from you.

I started out with the Partridge Plymouth Rocks. Those are the ones Danny said are gorgeous. Then I had to fill enough to make the order, so I have Orpingtons, Sussex and Wyandottes coming. I am jazzed. I had originally wanted the Orpingtons from Sand Hill, but then saw this site with the PR and decided to go for it. I hope the money I am spending is worth it.

edited for spelling - hope I got it all

I have never seen birds purchased from either place but you have to understand their purposes differ. One is a genetic preservation center trying to keep as many threatened plant & poultry varieties as possible available. The other is a hatchery devoted to making high quality birds available.
What I do know abou Superior is that they bought birds from winning show strains all over the country to establish their breeding flocks. They had some setbacks early on but have recently hired a new flock manager who has years of experience with breeding show poultry.
