Sand in coop scoop the poop

:welcome :frow I noticed you have been a member for a little while but this is your first post. Good luck and have fun...
Hi there I think I joined long before I actually got my chickens . But just enjoyed reading everyone’s feeds. I could not join in until got my own little feathered pets. I am completely loving having them in our yard. But winter will be harder on me then on them. I’ve done my research on insulation etc and I know they will be more than comfortable. But I will worry just the same. Nice to meet you!

Sorry for my late welcome, etc. Had some nasty thunderstorms pass thru- hard to keep up with BYC when hiding in a tiny basement closet.

Thank you I hope your chickens faired well through that storm 😵‍💫

Hi everyone!!!!
I have just built and painted my first backyard chicken coop this summer! In April we got 4 day old chicks and now they are around 20 weeks I lost count the exact age. It’s been so much fun! I use sand only in my coop and run and I have zero smell and zero flies in or around my yard and coop. I scoop the poop every day. My coop is insulated and well vented. I’m so looking forward to talking with others chicken parents lol
Thanks to all of you for the warm welcome!😀🐔🐓
