sand in the coop...really?

I recently switched to sand both in coop and run. So far I think its great, with just an old leaf rake I can reach all the way to the back of my coop and rake droppings to door. It only take a few minute to clean coop and throw it on the garden. I like it in the run to but might try covering it with a tarp to help keep it dry but it is easy to clean the same way as the coop. I get my sand at a local gravel pit and it is very cheap there, It only cost $10. for enough river sand to cover run and coop. Coop is 4' 6" W by 8" L run is 12' x18'
