Sand vs. wood chips

Just wondering I’m new to this BYC how do you start a thread or whatever I need to ask some stuff as well!

I use wood-chip in my coops as it is better composting material, doesn't smell, and is much easier to turn in my experience. I can easily move it to the garden later on once the ladies and gents have turned it.

I love sand in my run, I've been using it for a yr now. I use wood chips in the coop but have PDZ under the roost. We have a weird laws here that I need to clean daily. Sand in the run and PDZ in the coop make it very easy to clean. I also think it rains here a lot so the sand drains and stays easy to clean.

good tips! Thanks so much for your input. I was getting stuck on thinking I should use one substrate, but that's obviously not the case at all! Thanks for your feedback.
