Just put a load of sand on the floor of the chucks coop. heard it was easier and better to clean out so thought id try it out. i certainly prefer the look of sand. we shall see how the birds like it

I have a 4x8x6 coop run enclosure. For the lower level, the 4x8 run I used mixture of play sand and alpurpose sand (washed) from Home Depot. The structure is on concrete. I've also mixed in DE and Sweet PDZ. There is no odor on the run. 30 minutes with a litter scoop keeps it clean. I also have play sand and sweet PDZ and DE in the poop board. Pine shavings around the poop board. I love this set up. No odor! I go inside to check everything and my peeps and I detect no odor. We will be making a moveable run for them to get out on grass but their main place is this coop. I can't free range them. I can go as much as 2 days between scooping, probably longer but since it only takes 30 minutes to do the entire pen, I do it more often. I haven't learned composting guess I need to learn.
